ABSTRACT
This paper argues that while Digital Humanities (DH) has predominantly developed as an information science-oriented field, it is essential for humanities scholars themselves to engage in DH research. At the Art Research Center (ARC) of Ritsumeikan University, where the author is affiliated, a research infrastructure called “ARC Research Space” has been developed. This platform enables humanities scholars, even those not proficient in information science, to conduct DH research. The paper explains how many humanities researchers are utilizing this infrastructure to pursue DH research by introducing the functions of the database. It also asserts that new technologies, such as generative AI, have the potential to develop more effective research methods and fundamentally transform the nature of humanities research.
