ABSTRACT |
This study creates a “Bungobutsu(Mediamix to characterize literature) Database” using digital archiving and mapping to analyze the interactions between literary objects, museums, and audiences. The database reveals that “Bungo to Alchemist” (BunAru) are more closely linked to real Bungo(A great writer) than “Bungo Stray Dogs” (Bunsuto). Contrary to expectations, museums tend to collaborate more with Bunsuto due to profitability, reflecting shifts in the literary ecosystem. Literary museums also act as intermediaries, tailoring exhibitions to the preferences of Bunsuto and BunAru consumers, and offering new experiences such as collaborations with restaurants. This demonstrates a dynamic relationship between Bungobutsu and audiences. A comparison of the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature and the Kamakura Museum of Literature, through digital mapping, suggests that the relationship between content tourism and collaborative events beyond literary objects deserves further exploration. The study also calls for future research to broaden the range of data collection. Finally, the study aims to make the [Bungobutsu Database] publicly accessible as an “open database” for wider use. |
